During Monday night's Annual Charter Member Dinner, we presented the first ever C100 Icon of Canadian Entrepreneurship Award to Charter Member Rob Burgess. Both the event and award were founded with the goal of recognizing and honoring leaders and pioneers in the Canadian community that have helped make significant contributions to technology entrepreneurship. Rob is an ideal first recipient as he has had an impressive impact in the tech world and he clearly embodies our spirit of giving back to the community.
Rob Burgess was Chairman and CEO of Macromedia Inc. from 1996–2005, when Adobe Systems acquired the company for approximately $4 billion. Rob led Macromedia's transformation from a CD-ROM based multimedia company to a prominent market leader in web authoring and development solutions. Prior to Macromedia Inc., Burgess was Chief Executive Officer of Alias Research Inc., where he oversaw the company's growth as the world's largest and most profitable high-performance 3D graphics software company. Rob continues to sit a member of the Board of Directors of Adobe as well as three growing Canadian technology companies.
Thank you to Rob for sharing your story with us last night and for being an outstanding Canadian who has made a difference in the tech community. We're very proud to have you as a Charter Member!
